Chevrolet is offering the Z06 Engine Build Experience at the Corvette factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This program lets you participate in the construction of your car’s motor and is a unique opportunity in the auto field.
However, this is not the first time they have offered the program. Buyers of the C6, Z06, and ZR1 were able to participate in years past. If you are wondering, no they don’t just hand you a Haynes Guide and tell you to do your best. You would be working with the experts at Bowling Green’s Performance Build Center. This center is located right next to the Corvette assembly line. At the end you will get to attach a plaque to the vehicle telling the world what you have accomplished.
Unfortunately the finished engine won’t be dropped right into your car moments after it rolls out of the center. You will have to wait for the engine you built to make it through the Z06 workshop through the regular build schedule. You do have the option for the NCM museum delivery, although that probably involve a trip back to Bowling Green later.
The Engine Build Experience package costs $5,000, and is available for all Z06 trims. You will also have to pay for personal transportation to get to their center. It’s worth making the trip even if you’re not planning to build your Z06’s motor. There is plenty to see at the Corvette Museum and the motorsports park.
