Since the Dodge Hellcats have been revealed there has been a huge interest in the cars and apparently a lot of orders. There are so many orders being placed that Dodge has had to suspend orders on their two Hellcat models.
Dodge was caught off guard by interest in the Charger and Challenger Hellcats since they were released late last year, and they have already received orders for more than double what they planned to build for 2015. The shortage of production has led to 50 percent markups on the already $60,000-plus vehicles. Some other dealerships have reportedly taken dozens of deposits on cars they could take years to deliver. All of this has lead Dodge to warn their customers of what it called “unscrupulous” behavior.
Now it seems like they want to get things in order. Dodge released a statement saying “Due to unprecedented demand for the 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats, we are temporarily restricting orders while we validate current orders that are in the system.”
It is not surprising that Dodge has sold a lot of Hellcats. It isn’t every often that you can get a 707 horsepower vehicle with top speeds of 199 and 204 mph for only around $60,000. My question is whether or not Dodge will try to limit the amount of Hellcats produced, making it a collector car, or do they increase production and sell as many as they can.
