Ford had quite the array of performance machinery at the Detroit Auto Show. They showed off the new GT supercar, Shelby GT350R muscle car, and the F-150 Raptor. One thing it didn’t reveal is how much power they come with. However a senior executive at Ford has reportedly let the cat out of the bag when it comes to the Raptor.
During an interview during the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Raj Nair (Ford’s product development chief) is said to have revealed that the new F-150 Raptor will offer 450 hp. That’s pretty impressive from a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine. This would put the new Raptor over the 411 horsepower made by the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 in the previous SVT Raptor.
But this doesn’t give us the whole picture. With a vehicle this big, torque plays the biggest factor in performance. The outgoing Raptor provided 424 pound-feet of torque. The existing 3.5-liter engine is already producing 420 foot pounds. So we can assume the new Raptor will improve on those numbers as well. However, we will have to wait for the rest of the specs to be revealed to know for sure.
